Open House: 900 students visit varsity PG departments

Mangalore University organised an Open House programme to introduce the various postgraduate programmes to students and their parents on Friday, at the university campus, Mangalagangothri.

Over 900 Students visited the postgraduate departments, interacted with faculty regarding the scope and job prospects, the research that is being carried out and saw the infrastructure, laboratories and computational facilities.

The Open House programme was inaugurated by Mayor K Bhaskar Moily.

With 25 postgraduate departments offering 40 different PG programmes in science, humanities, commerce and management, and education this ‘Come and Explore’ programme was organised for the fourth consecutive year and aimed to provide first-hand information to prospective students and their parents.

The students were seen collecting information about different courses of interest and their scope.

The Open House also showcased the milestones and important contributions of the department, extra funding from various national and international agencies and also avenues and opportunities after completing the course.

Acting vice-chancellor Dr Kishore Kumar C K, Registrar Prof B S Nagendra Prakash, Registrar (evaluation) Prof A M Khan, coordinator Prof B Narayana were present.

The Open House 2018 at University College and University Evening College in Mangaluru will be held on June 30 at 10 am.

Mangaluru City South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath will inaugurate the programme.

It will give the students an opportunity to visit departments of their choice and have first-hand information about library and information systems, sports facilities in the college.
