JOIN USUrging authorities to fulfil the demands by the Yarava community, a rally will be taken out in Ponnampet on February 15, under the aegis of District and Taluk Yarava Yuva Okkoota, said Yarava Yuva Okkoota leader P S Mutta.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said that a memorandum will be submitted to the district administration, urging the state government to recommend to the Central government to announce Yarava community as a primitive tribal group.
He further said that separate funds should be released from Maharshi Valmiki Abhivruddhi Nigama for the development of the Yarava community.
Youth from Yarava community should be directly recruited for government jobs and a separate authority should be instituted for the same. Yarava families should be provided with agricultural lands, he added.
P S Mutta alleged that the government should take immediate measures to provide old age, handicapped and widow pensions to the beneficiaries.
The pension is not being paid from the past four months, he said.
