Kodagu Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhanwar Singh Meena directed the DDPI, block education officers (BEO) and high school headmasters to carry out honest efforts towards improving the performance of the district in SSLC examinations.

During an interactive programme organised by the Department of Public Instruction, at the DDPI’s office, in Madikeri, on Tuesday, the ZP CEO elaborated on the possible measures to improve the performance of SSLC students in the upcoming board examination.

He also reviewed the progress of the department of education.

He said, “A special approach is needed to prepare the students who are slow learners. Separate classes should be conducted for such students so that they enhance their learning capabilities. Especially, teachers of Mathematics, Science and Social Studies should pay more attention to their students.”

Stressing on the need to ensure that no child is left out of the school, Bhanwar Singh Meena asked the headteachers of the schools to visit the student’s houses and to conduct School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) meetings regularly, so as to keep in touch with the parents of the students as well.

The parents should be told to monitor the progress of their wards, he said.

The ZP CEO also said that students should be encouraged to develop positive thoughts on the learning process.

DDPI P S Macchado detailed the steps taken by the department to improve SSLC results.

Taluk-level officials have been visiting the schools to monitor progress, he said.

Block education officers H K Pandu, Shrishaila Beelagi and T N Gayathri were present.
