Vehicles new mode of Cong, BJP slogan war

Last Updated 31 March 2019, 17:52 IST

The Congress workers in Udupi have stuck posters on their vehicles stating that ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ to counter BJP’s ‘Chowkidar’ campaign and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of reaching out to the voters with his ‘Chowkidar’ campaign.

There are about 50 cars and autorickshaws in and around the city which have stuck these stickers.

Udupi District Congress Committee General Secretary Harish Kini, who has also stuck the poster on his car, said the party workers were inspired by Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s speech where he had termed ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ with regard to irregularities in Rafale deal.

"We have seen Modi claiming to be the ‘watchman’ of the country and local BJP leaders have stuck “Main Bhi Chowkidar” posters on their vehicles. So to counter BJP’s slogan, we have this slogan. We have such stickers ready with us and whoever approaches us asking for it, we will distribute them,” he said.

Likewise, BJP leaders and party workers have stickers on their vehicles in support of Modi. BJP District unit president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, who has stuck ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ poster, said that Congress leaders may claim that prime minister is ‘Chor’ (thief), but the common man has a lot of respect for Modi and these malicious campaign will not dent his image.
