Modi claims credit for state-funded schemes accuses HDK

Countering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charges against the coalition government, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on
Friday accused Narendra Modi of tweaking facts and taking credit even for the state-funded schemes.

Speaking to reporters here, Kumaraswamy said, “Modi government is bankrupt. The Centre did not release Rs 1,500 crore to the state for
MGNREGS workers’ wages. We have released that amount, which was essential to stop migration and mitigate the drought,” he said.

Ayushman Bharat scheme

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy charged that Modi is claiming full credit for Ayushman Bharat scheme for which the contribution of the state government is more.

Modi is not maintaining the dignity and decorum of the prime minister’s post, he alleged.

“Modi now talks about having a separate water conservation ministry, and funds for Upper Krishna Project. Who stopped him from doing that in the last five years? BJP leaders edited and misinterpreted my statements about Pulwama attacks and those joining the army, just to harm my reputation, he lamented.

Kumaraswamy said he shed tears feeling bad about the condition of slain soldier’s family in Mandya district.

“I had stated that some youth join Army to meet ends of their family as Modi could not create jobs, and asked him to take care of them,” he said, adding that he did not shed tears for Balakot attack.

Farm loan waiver

Loan waiver scheme has helped many farmers, but the Centre chose only a few beneficiaries for PM Kisan Samman Yojana, though the state
government had provided the necessary information, he charged.

On high voter turnout

Kumaraswamy noted that high polling percentage in Mandya is an indication of coalition candidate Nikhil’s victory.
“Voter turnout in Bengaluru was low as people did not want to support BJP,” the chief minister said.

He also predicted that the Congress-JD(S) alliance would win 18 to 22 seats in the parliamentary election in the state.
