Mysore gets its first woman DC

C Shikha, the managing director of Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Corporation Ltd (Cesc) on Wednesday took charge as the first woman deputy commissioner (DC) of Mysore.

Shikha, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Technology from NIT, Trichy, belongs to the 2004 batch.

Shikha’s husband Ajay Nagabhushan has been posted as deputy commissioner for Mandya.
She is the first woman IAS officer to hold the coveted post in the district. A few years ago, however, IAS officer N Manjula, who had served as Chief Executive Officer of the Mysore Zilla Panchayat, had been made in-charge Deputy Commissioner for a short period.

Shikha has served as assistant commissioner and in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Gadag, after which she was posted as Chief Executive Officer, Dharwad ZP, for three years. She has also served as MD, North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), Hubli, before taking charge of Cesc.
