Name music varsity after a Carnatic stalwart

Since a music university has already been named after late Hindustani music doyen Gangubai Hangal, several musicians vouched for the Music University at Mysore to be renamed after Purandara Dasa or Wodeyar or T Chowdaiah.

H Sudhindra, founder trustee of Suswaralaya Music School said: “Mysore is prominent for its contribution to carnatic music and it would be relevant to rename the university here after a stalwart.” A signature campaign to rename the university at Mysore has also begun, which would be submitted to the Chief Minister to consider the appeal.
