Next Sammelana in Kalaburagi

Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Manu Baligar on Saturday said that the 85th Akhila Bharath Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held in Kalaburagi, the land of Tur.

A decision to this effect was taken at the Parishat’s executive committee meeting attended by all 42 members.

Baligar said that the committee members gave their consent unanimously to hold the next literary meet in Kalaburagi considering the fact that it has not hosted the meet from the last 32 years. The Sahitya Sammelana was last held in Kalaburagi in 1987. Poet Siddayya Puranik had presided over the Sammelana, he recalled.

Baligar said that Uttar Kannada, Bagalkot, Chikkamagaluru, Chikkaballapur, Dakshina Kannada, Ballari ad Davangere were in race to host the event. But the members unanimously decided to hold the next event in Kalaburagi, he said.

Veerabhadrappa Shimpi, president of Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kalaburagi, assured all assistance to hold the event.

On Sammelana resolutions, Baligar said that the Sammelana will pass three or four resolutions Sunday at the valedictory programme. Sammelana President Chandrashekar Kambar was present.
