JOIN USElection observers on Sunday cleared the air on the allegations pertaining to the nomination papers of JD(S) nominee from Mandya, Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Ranjith Kumar and Rani Nagar, the EC-appointed observers, in a five-page explanation, stated, “Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s nomination papers were accepted in our presence. There was a lapse in the affidavit. It was rectified later. Sumalatha’s election agents did not raise any objection then. They raised the issue after the papers were accepted.”
“You (complainant Madan Kumar) had sought video of the proceedings. The videographer didn’t capture the part you raised objections to. The videographer has been booked for the lapse. There is no substance in your allegations,” the observers stated in the letter to Sumalatha’s agent.
