Ola cabbie plays porn to passenger

An Ola cab driver misbehaved with a woman passenger and played a porn video during an early morning ride.

The 22-year-old victim, a resident of Yelahanka New Town, had booked a cab from her house on August 23 to her office, a startup in JP Nagar. When the cab reached Queens Road, the Ola driver, who was observing her from the mirror, took out his mobile phone and played a porn video to her. The shocked woman asked the driver to stop the cab, but he refused, saying the location was still far.

After reaching office, the woman narrated the incident to a friend. Later, she filed a complaint with the Cubbon Park police on Saturday. She also complained to Ola customer care. Police said the driver, identified as Devasamoliya, would be arrested soon.

The woman said that the details of the driver shown in the Ola app were different from the one who came to pick her, but Ola customer care service allegedly blamed her for not verifying the driver’s details before boarding the cab. She said the driver was speaking in Hindi and told her he was from Madhya Pradesh.

Ola to cooperate

An Ola spokesperson said it has shared the necessary information with police. “We are deeply disturbed by this incident and have removed the driver’s access to the platform. We are standing by our customer and have extended full assistance to police,” the spokesperson said.
