Parliament panel for reviving HAL airport

Last Updated 28 September 2010, 18:08 IST

The HAL airport was asked to stop operating flights as part of the State Government’s agreement with BIAL and had given rise to a huge debate among public and also the governments, both Centre and the State.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event here, he said: “We’ve brought this issue up several times in the Parliament, but there is no positive response from the government.”
He also said that the committee, is in fact, also in favour of operationalising the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad, which too had become inactive.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Joint Director General R P Sahi said that the DGCA is also in favour of such a move, but added that HAL must make a decision.

“We’ll be more than happy if the HAL airport starts functioning again. In fact, we have a full team working there including a General Manager,” he said.
