The complaint has been lodged on the grounds that Balakrishna, a former Karnataka Administrative Service officer, had amassed wealth disproportionate to his income.
The complainant S N Balakrishna, a retired assistant manager of Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Limited, Bhadravathi has alleged that Balakrishna Gowda had wealth amounting to Rs 500 crore, even though his income during his service did not exceed Rs 30 lakh.
The complainant sought an inquiry by Lokayukta police and confiscation of properties that were acquired illegally. Judge N K Sudhindra Rao sought to know the reason for the complaint and if the complainant was motivated by any particular reason to file the complaint.

Nepotism-free society
The complainant responded saying that as a former government employee, he wanted a clean and nepotism-free society and was filing the complaint in larger public interest.
The complainant alleged that Balakrishna Gowda had acquired properties, commercial buildings and set up institutions in the name of his wife Kavitha, and other relatives named Jayamma, Savitha, Ravindra and Srikanth. Balakrishna Gowda joined the State government as a KAS officer in 1984, and took voluntary retirement in 2005. The complainant’s counsel S G Bhagawan submitted some documents to the court for consideration. The judge reserved the orders on the complaint and posted the case for September 24.
