Pratap Simha granted bail after 7 hrs in custody

After seven hours in police custody, Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha member, Pratap Simha was granted bail by the special court constituted to exclusively deal with criminal cases against MPs and MLAs in Karnataka on Friday.

Actor politician Prakash Rai (Prakash Raj) filed a defamation complaint claiming Re 1 against Simha for his derogatory tweet. But Simha continuously ignored the court notices and did not appear before the court whenever summoned.

Taking serious note of his absence, court had issued non-bailable warrant against him. On Friday, he appeared before the court and filed an application seeking recall of the warrant.

Special judge, Ramachandra D Huddar said let Simha be in the police custody till the completion of the hearing. Then he took up the case around 5.45 pm and with the surety of Rs 10,000, Simha was granted bail.
