HC tells EO, tahsildar to hold BTPRD Bank polls soon

The Karnataka High Court (Dharwad Bench), ordered the election officer of Belagavi Taluk Primary and Rural Development (BTPRD) Bank and Belagavi tahsildar, to expedite the elections for the post of president and vice president of the bank.

Nine directors of the bank had filed a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court (Dharwad Bench) questioning the postponement of the election by the election officer and tahsildar.

In its order, the court stated that the (case of) alleged kidnapping of a director- Parashuram Ningappa Patil was closed and the Additional Government Advocate too, had stated that the election process would begin soon.

It may be recalled, that KPCC Women's Wing President and Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar, had staged a protest at the Belagavi tahsildar's office last week. She had protested against the postponment of the elections and the allegation that one director was kidnapped. The court order favours the nine directors of the bank supporting MLA Hebbalkar.
