Last Updated 12 November 2015, 19:42 IST

Condemning the death of Vishwa Hindu Parishat activist in Madikeri during the procession took out as part of Tipu Jayanti on Tuesday, the VHP, Bajrang Dal and other Hindu outfits have given a call for dawn-to-dusk bandh in the district on Friday.

While there is no clarity on or consensus among State leadership of various pro-Hindu organisations about the proposed State-wide bandh, the district units of VHP and Bajrang Dal are keen to observe bandh at respective districts, sources said.

Accordingly the activists of Hindu organisations held a bike rally in Tumakuru city and at the taluk centres on Thursday evening to create awarenes about the bandh call among the people.

Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy told Deccan Herald  that adequate measures have been taken to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the bandh. “Six DySPs, 10 CPIs, 45 PSIs, 110 constables, six DAR and three KSRP battalions will be deployed as part of security measures in the district,” the SP said.
