Raichur police bust organised fake currency racket

Police have busted an organised counterfeit currency note racket in Devadurga taluk, Raichur district, and booked eight men in that connection.

Police said that the Jalahalli HP petrol bunk owner H P Prakash and Ayyalappa Naika, a follower of the current Devadurga MLA are among the accused.

Farmer Srinivasa Reddy, who hails from Basapura Camp, Sindanur taluk and is currently living in Nagaragundahalli, Devadurga, is the prime accused in the racket. Police have seized eight Rs 500 fake notes and 24 Rs 2000 fake notes from him.

The other accused include: Abdul Rehman (of Bengaluru), Amjad, Ravindra (of Devadurga), Ramkrishna (of Hussain Nagar camp, Manvi taluk), Hanumantha (of Kuchinerla, Gadwal district, Telangana).

Police said that in the recent Assembly polls, a large number of fake notes were used to cover expenses in Devadurga. The Jalahalli HP petrol bunk was used as a conduit for introducing fake notes in the market.

The case is registered by the Devadurga Circle police. Investigations are on in full swing.
