Rains continued to lash several parts of the state on the second day on Wednesday.
Ballari received moderate rains for about two hours in the evening. Rains coupled with thunder lashed Koluru Cross, Somasamudra, Bevinahalli, Amarapura, Chaganur and other villages. However, there were no reports of loss of life.
It drizzled in Bidar town and surrounding areas towards for a while the evening, bringing respite from the sweltering heat.
Gusty winds uprooted several trees and electricity poles in Hosapete. Vehicles parked outside railway station were damaged as trees fell on them.
Kodagu
Heavy rains coupled with lightning and thunder lashed Napoklu in Kodagu. Bethu village in Napoklu received 25 mm of rains.
Hassan
Hassan received rains for about 20 minutes towards the noon for the second day. Joint director of agriculture Ramachandraiah said that the district may receive rains for the next three days.
Mysuru
HD Kote in Mysuru district received rains for about 30 minutes. Farmers had prepared their land after the taluk received rains a week ago. Agricultural activities may gain momentum following Wednesday’s rains. Hampapura hobli in HD Kote taluk received widespread rains.
Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district received heavy rains towards Tuesday evening.
Tumakuru
Heavy rains have wreaked havoc Turuvekere taluk of Tumakuru district. Standing crops of banana, arecanut and coconut have been damaged in the rains which lashed the taluk early this week.
