Rain takes a break in Shimoga

Rain receded in several parts of the district on Wednesday.Sagar, Shimoga, Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, parts of Sorab and Bhadravathi received moderate rain in the morning.

Following the scanty rain, water levels have also receded in the rivers Tunga, Varada, Kumudwathi and Sharavathi. The flood situation in Sagar taluk has eased and farmers carried on with their agricultural activities as the rain took a break.

The water level in Linganamakki dam witnessed a slight rise as the catchment area of the dam received a rainfall of 9 mm. It rose to 1812.25 feet against a maximum of 1819 feet and the inflow decreased to 17,665 cusecs.

Similarly, the water level in Bhadra dam remained at 185.20 feet against a maximum of 186 feet. While the inflow was 12,302 cusecs, the outflow was 11,087 cusecs.

Traffic restored


Movement of vehicles resumed on Bhagamandala-Talacauvery Road on Tuesday.  The stretch was blocked for traffic after boulders fell on the road. Light motor vehicles were allowed move on the stretch. The Public Works Department has removed the boulders.

Rains, which battered parts of the State over the last week took a break on Wednesday.  
According to Indian Meteorological Department, south-west monsoon hs been weak over north interior Karnataka.

However, Nilkund in Uttara Kannada district received 7 cm rainfall while it rained 5 cm each in Mulki (Dakshina Kannada), Gokarna (Uttara Kannada) and Kortagere (Tumkur district).
