Recruitment: Vijayanagara varsity seeks EC permission

In a letter to the Commission, vice chancellor of the varsity Prof M S Subhash has said that the Governor, who happens to be the chancellor of the university, had given his consent for the recruitment process.

Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraja University has sought the permission of the Election Commission to proceed with faculty recruitment as the dates for interview were fixed before the declaration of Lok Sabha elections.

In a letter to the Commission, vice chancellor of the varsity Prof M S Subhash has said that the Governor, who happens to be the chancellor of the university, had given his consent for the recruitment process. He has also stated that though the interview will be conducted now, the appointment letters would be issued only after the conclusion of the electoral process.

The VC has said that recruitment was necessary to obtain 12B recognition from the University Grants Commission. Moreover, the court has also directed to fill the local cadre vacancies at the earliest.

The varsity has sought the Commission as well as the district election officer to withdraw the show-cause notice issued to it for going ahead with recruitment in violation of model code of conduct.
