Repair work of Bababudangiri cave opposed

Move is a clear violation of High Court interim order, alleges Gowda

“Taking up any repair work is a clear violation of an interim order of the Karnataka High Court, which had also ruled that no activity other than routine rituals, should be allowed at the disputed site. But Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa, BJP State President Sadananda Gowda and others on September 8 kickstarted the repair work, apart from installing an idol of Dattathreya,” he told reporters.

“I totally condemn it. The CM and his ministers should follow the court order,” he said and warned that he would take legal action and launch an agitation against the Government’s move.

“If not development, the Government should maintain law and order. Maintaining communal harmony should be the priority. It is really surprising that a senior minister has blatantly violated the court order,” he said.

CID probe opposed

He opposed the CM’s decision of ordering a CID probe into the recent church attack in Anekal near Bangalore, saying “not many honest officers are left in the CID now.” Instead, the former PM supported his son, former CM H D Kumaraswamy’s demand for a CBI probe.

He added that the law and order situation had totally collapsed in the State. “What Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj said about the law and order situation recently is correct. But I wonder why the Governor has suddenly gone on silent mode after speaking the bitter truth,” he remarked.

Plight of farmers

Describing the plight of potato farmers in Hassan district, Gowda said crop worth Rs 200 crore, covering 55,000 hectare, was damaged last year. A farmer had spent Rs 25,000 on every hectare. But neither the Centre nor the State Government gave them any compensation.

Venkaiah upset over Guv’s remarks

BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu has taken exception to the Governor’s recent remarks on the law and order situation in Karnataka. In an interview with Deccan Herald, Governor H R Bhardwaj had said he was unhappy with law and order.

Naidu said if the Governor had made such a statement it was absolutely wrong. “He should not be in favour any political party and making political statements is not a Governor’s duty.”
