Revanna credits wife for Hassan’s SSLC feat

Public Works Minister H D Revanna

Public Works Minister H D Revanna on Wednesday said it was his wife Bhavani who was responsible for the district’s achievement in topping the state in the SSLC results. He refused to acknowledge the role of previous Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri in the feat.

Hassan achieved a pass percentage of 89.33 and Sindhuri was credited with the success.

Addressing a press conference here, Revanna asked what Sindhuri had done to improve the results. He sought to know whether she had visited any school or taken lessons.

“Let her show how many meetings she had organised to improve the quality of education,” said Revanna, adding, there was severe opposition from the teachers to Sindhuri’s move to conduct examination for the teachers and the matter was discussed in the Assembly.

Revanna said, Bhavani took several measures to improve the quality of education and thus, the results improved. She had conducted several meetings with the officials and also directed education officers to take measures to improve the results.

Efforts in this regard were made by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and the Education department secretary also, he said.

Commented against actor Darshan for his statement that the government need not waive the farmers’ loan, but must ensure scientific prices for their crops, Revanna asked Darshan to donate 50% of his earnings to the government to resolve the farmers’ problem.

“Let Darshan take a break from films for six months to understand the sufferings of the farmers in Mandya,” he added.
