Rly staffer dies as goods train runs over him

A railway employee was killed after a goods train ran over him while he was checking the track near Koramangala in the taluk on Tuesday morning.

The deceased is Hanumesh (29) of Raichur district. According to sources, Hanumesh was checking the railway track around 5.45 am after switching on the red light. The goods engine driver could not spot the red light due to fog and the train ran over Hanumesh, killing him instantaneously.

Hanumesh, who was with the Railways for the past five years, had got engaged only 15 days ago.

The mishap occurred at the 116th mile, between Koramangala and Bageshapura. The goods train was bound for Hassan from Arsikere.
