The police and income tax department have seized cash, liquor and other valuables worth Rs 152.78 crore during raids across Karnataka till Friday to prevent misuse of money during the Assembly elections.
The police and the I-T department seized Rs 67.27 crore in cash across the state after the Election Commission announced the schedule of the Assembly polls on March 27. Of this, Rs 32.54 crore was released after verification.
Flying squads, static surveillance teams and other wings of the police seized cash worth Rs 46.83 crore, including Rs 60.36 lakh on Friday.
They seized 5 lakh litres of liquor worth Rs 23.36 crore till Friday and gold and silver worth Rs 43.17 crore so far. Laptops, vehicles, cookers, sarees, sewing machines, ready foods, chequebooks, stoves worth Rs 18.57 crore till Friday.
