Sex scandal: Women MLCs walk out over Ibrahim's remark

Last Updated 17 August 2021, 07:06 IST

Two women MLCs walked out of the Legislative Council on Wednesday “disgusted” at the manner in which the sex scandal was being described by some Congress leaders.

BJP members Tejaswini Gowda and Bharathi Shetty said there were hardly three women in the Upper House (Congress’ Veena Achaiah being the third) and that they were uncomfortable with the excessive reference to the sex scandal.

They walked out in protest after Congress member C M Ibrahim made a derogatory remark against the six ministers who recently moved court to get an injunction against the publication or broadcast of anything defamatory or unverified about them.

“They broke the bed and then ran to court,” Ibrahim said, ticking off the women.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim insisted that the discussion on the sex CD issue was in the larger interest of the people in the state.

“Why did the six ministers run to the court, fearing that CDs against them would be released? What is the content of these alleged CDs? Does it show them talking about issues in the government or are they discussing the horse trading episode in Mumbai? People of this state deserve to know,” he said.
