A portion of a house collapsed on two sisters while they were asleep following heavy rains in Alnavar town of Dharwad district during wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased, Shashikala (20) and Mukta (18), were buried under debris and died of suffocation.
Heavy downpour for the last three days had weakened the house structure which caused the incident, said the police.
Shashikala, who was married six months ago, had come to her mother's place for Nagarpanchami festival, added the police.
Meanwhile, Dharwad continued to receive moderate rains on Thursday.
