State students fare well in ComedK exam; Bengaluru boy emerges topper

A total of 42 students from the state featured in the top-100 rank bracket in the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK)-UGET exam results that were announced on Sunday.

Three students from Bengaluru figure in top-10 ranks in the exam for engineering admissions. Durbha Aditya, a resident of Thubarahalli in Bengaluru, has emerged topper with a score of 168 in the exams.

For Aditya, this came as a pleasant surprise. "I knew I performed well. But securing the first rank is something that has come as a surprise for me. I worked hard and consistently started preparing from the start of Grade 12 in my school," he said. Aditya took coaching from Akash Institute coaching centre. He hopes to pursue either mechanical or electrical engineering.

Nikhil S Pai, a resident of Bannerghatta Road, has secured 5th rank with a score of 165. He had scored 96.6% in CBSE Class XII.

"I want to pursue electrical engineering from one of the IITs. My JEE mains rank is 5059 and am awaiting the advanced score," he added.

Nikhil, a student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, finished in the top-10 bracket, said,
"I studied everyday for 3 hours and studying everyday is the best thing to clear any exams and my teachers and parents have been supportive," a beaming Nikhil said.

Meanwhile, Prateek Sanjay Bhirud said that the integrated coaching at Deeksha Centre of Learning helped him pass the exam with flying colours. He hopes to study computer science and pursue research in the field of artificial intelligence.

The COMEDK entrance examination for admissions to Under Graduate Engineering courses for the academic year 2018-19 was held at 291 centres in 137 centres across the country on May 13.
