Stones pelted at bus after Modi rally

An altercation broke out between two groups when a bus transporting BJP workers who were returning home after attending PM Narendra Modi’s rally at Nehru Maidan was pelted with stones, at Kuthar on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Saturday.

According to City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil, miscreants assaulted women travelling in the bus as well. Condemning the incident, a large number of BJP workers staged a protest outside Konaje police station.

The police commissioner said that an FIR has been registered. “We have taken the incident seriously. Some people have already been detained by the police. We will arrest other accused at the earliest.”

City police commisioner, DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya, and DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth visited spot. The police have assured all the protesters gathered at the station that strong action will be taken against the accused.
