Survives flood, but succumbs to ailment

Nirmala, a diabetic and suffering from kidney related problems, was in a state of shock after having a first hand experience of the flood. Her health deteriorated, as she remained hungry for a day due to non-availability of food. She was admitted at Apollo BGS Hospitals in the city soon after her return on Saturday. She breathed her last on Sunday morning.

Nirmala Urs, husband Ramaraje Urs along with their daughter Prema Urs, son-in-law Nagaraje Urs, daughter-in-law Vandana Urs, grand children Nikhita and Nihan had left for Mantralaya on September 26. The family was stranded in flood waters even as it was preparing to leave for Mysore on Friday. They were ferried to safety on a tractor.

After reaching Ananthpur, the couple managed to reach Bangalore by bus. The remaining members of the family, managed to reach Ananthpur on Saturday evening.
