The suspense over JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda's contest in the Lok Sabha polls continued on Sunday, as he failed to give a clear statement on his contest and choice of constituency.

When questioned whether he would contest Lok Sabha polls this time also, during his visit to Shivamogga on Sunday, to participate in JD(S) workers meeting, he said enough had been discussed in this regard.

Gowda may contest the election from Bengaluru North after conceding Hassan seat to his grandson Prajwal Revanna.

When asked about his meeting with Congress leader R V Deshpande, Gowda said he held discussions with the minister.

The former prime minister said he would strive for the victory of Madhu Bangarappa, the nominee of the coalition partners in the Lok Sabha election from Shivamogga constituency.

He said, "Madhu is like my son. So, I will leave no stone unturned for his victory." Gowda said prominent leaders of the Congress, including D K Shivakumar, would campaign in favour of Madhu in the coming days.

Later, speaking at a JD(S) meeting, he criticised that BJP-led government at the Centre only changed the names of old schemes and nothing else in the last five years.

He claimed that he headed the coalition government comprising 13 parties in the Centre without there being a communal clash and terror attack.

"I don't make personal attacks. But I am just sharing the facts with you," Gowda said.
