Suvarna Soudha to be ready in Belgaum by July

Udasi said the government has decided to hold the monsoon session of the state legislature in July at Suvarna Soudha, being built on the lines of "Vidhana Soudha", a major landmark and seat of power here.

Officials said the Government has already released Rs 212 crore in the past two years and earmarked Rs 138 crore in the 2011-12 budget for the project, coming up at Halagabastavadi, about 15 kms from Belgaum on Bangalore-Pune Highway.

Udasi said a Rs 50 crore special package had been prepared for Kodagu district for development of roads.

A sum of Rs 235 crore had been released for development of roads in Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe colonies in the State.

He said the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited would develop 702 km roads by spending Rs 1,692 crore in various districts. A sum of Rs 1,070 crore had been released for developing roads in backward taluks identified by the High Power Committee on Regional Imbalances headed by late economist D M Nanjundappa, Udasi added.
