Thousands perform yoga to mark 4th Intl. Yoga Day

Even before the Sun rose on Thursday morning, people of Karnataka from all over the state gathered in thousands to participate in mass yoga sessions on the fourth International Yoga Day.  

Prominent leaders like octogenarian and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, BJP leader Yeddyurappa also practised yoga to mark the occasion.  

In Bengaluru, Thousands participated in the mass yoga program organised by the department of Family Welfare and the Ayush department at the Kanteerava indoor stadium on Thursday to mark the International Yoga Day. 

Over 15000 people gathered at the race course at the foot of Chamundi Hill in Mysuru to join the mass yoga program. 

In Hubballi, MP Prahlad Joshi joined students who participated in the yoga program organised by Kshamatha Yoga Organisation.   

In Sirsi, a mass yoga program was held inside the Ambedkar Bhavan. MLA Viveshwara Hegde Kageri inaugurated the program.  

In Ballari, the yoga session was held at the municipal college grounds. It was organised by Ayush department and the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Ram Prasad Manohar,  Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Rangarajan, zilla panchayat functionaries, district surgeon and members of the Brahmakumari Ishwari organisation joined in.

In Raichur the yoga day was observed through a mass yoga practice session organised by Navodaya Organisation in their premises. 

In Tumakuru, the program was held at the Siddaganga mutt premises. Hundreds of students took part in the Gandhiji playground.

In Chitradurga the yogasana session was held in the middle school grounds. Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts took part. 

In Chikkaballapur, the mass yogasana session was held in Sir MV district grounds. Deputy Commissioner Deepthi Kanade, Additional DC K N Anuradha, SP Karthik Reddy and ZP members joined hundreds of students and government officials. 

In Udupi, the yoga program was held inside the Ajjarakadu indoor stadium. DC Priyanka Mary Francis and ZP members took part. Over 200 students from various schools joined in. 

In Belagavi, the district administration had organised the mass yoga program. MP Suresh Angadi, MLA Abhaya Patil, DC Ziaullah and Palike Commissioner Shashidar Kurera and ZP members took part.
