CBSE results: Karnataka students top Chennai region

The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday announced the results of class 10. Yashas D, a student from Vidya Varidi International School in Tumakuru has topped the Chennai region which includes Karnataka. Continuing with the tradition, girls have yet again outshone boys in the performance.

By scoring 498 out of 500, Yashas has not only topped the state but also the Chennai Region. Similarly, Girija M Hegde of Sri Manjunatheshwara Central School in Dharwad has bagged the second position in the state by scoring 497 out of 500 marks.

Two students from Bengaluru-- Aishwarya Hariharan Iyar and Naladala Disha Chowdary from Presidency School in Bengaluru have also scored 497 marks to become the second toppers.
According to sources in the CBSE, the overall pass percentage this year has been increased by 4.40% compared to last year. While the year 2018 witnessed a pass percentage of 86.70%, this year the overall pass percentage stood at 91.10%.

Interestingly, the Chennai Region with 99.00% is at the second position after Trivandrum which scored 99.85 per cent pass percentage compared to the other 10 regions of CBSE. Of the 17.74 lakh students appeared for the exam conducted from 15 February to 4 April across the country, as many as 17.61 lakh students have cleared the exams.
