He asks all to go and cast their votes, but cannot cast his.

Rahul Dravid was among the celebrities the Election Commission roped in to encourage voters to exercise to go the polling stations and exercise their democratic rights.

Yet the cricket icon himself cannot vote in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, as his name is no longer on the Electoral Roll.

Dravid lives in Bengaluru and he has been the poster-boy of the EC, which has been roping in celebrities like him to its “No Voters To Be Left Behind” campaign. The Wall of Indian cricket also featured in the posters and videos released by the EC asking all to cast votes.

But his name was deleted from the electoral roll after he shifted from his ancestral residence to a new house.

According to the information the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka sent to the EC, Dravid's name was deleted from the Electoral Roll after his brother submitted the Form 7 seeking deletion of the name of the cricket legend from the roll as he was no longer staying in his ancestral residence.

“But in the new residence, Rahul Dravid did not take steps to get his name included in Electoral Roll although registration officials visited there several times,” the CEO Karnataka informed the EC.
