Observers are calling it the launch of the Opposition's 2019 poll campaign

H D Kumaraswamy’s oath-taking ceremony as chief minister of Karnataka will be historic for more than one reason. Not only does the ceremony mark Karnataka’s first coalition government in more than a decade, the list of star-studded attendees makes the whole affair, a who’s who of the leaders of the opposition parties in India. Political observers are touting the swearing-in ceremony as the launch of an informal opposition parties campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for April/May 2019.
