Coffee plants and pepper vines were drying up due to the scorching sun for the last several days. The growers were worried as the lakes had dried up.
About 27 mm rain has been recorded in Virajpet while Somwarpet received 26 mm rain.

Heavy downpour was reported in A M Gudi Range under Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Chamarajanagar on Wednesday evening.
Rain in A M Gudi region of Bandipur has removed the fear of forest fire. Water has been collected in the small ponds and streams in the forest, bringing relief to wild animals as well.
About 20.5 mm rain has been recorded in Annuru and Chokkanahalli of H D Kote taluk and 7 mm rain in Hanagodu of Hunsur. Periyapatna has received drizzling, according to sources from state natural disaster management unit.
