Last Updated 15 May 2019, 20:28 IST

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday asked the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to file a report detailing the manner in which Ansarul Islam Mahallu Committee, Palakkad, Kerala, had issued a marriage certificate dated March 30, 2016, to Muhammed Shihab Kunnath and Sameera certifying the marriage between the two.

The court has also asked the IB to submit the said report in a sealed cover. The court also asked the IB to state what “steps it shall take with regard to such certificates being issued and produced for issuance of passports or any other documents which may legalise the entry of such persons.”

The court passed the order following the perusal of the contents of sealed cover submitted by Labhuram, IPS, Foreigners Regional Registration Office, Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The court passed the directions while hearing an application filed by Aditya Singh, central government counsel appearing on behalf of FRRO, Immigration Bureau, Bengaluru, seeking more time to comply with the court’s earlier order of deporting a Pak couple who were overstaying.
