JSW Steel Ltd to invest Rs 7,500 Crore in Ballari

JSW Steel Limited has decided to invest Rs 7,500 crore to commission the third plant to generate steel by 2020.

"The plants at present generate 12 million steel a year. With the addition of one more plant, the total steel generation will go upto 13 million," Dr Vinod Naval, deputy managing director Jindal Steel Works, told reporters at JSW's Toranagallu facility on Wednesday.

"Improvement of hot mettle and upgradation of steel melting shop will also be taken up," he said.

The JSW Steel Limited is working in two iron ore blocks. It is awaiting permission for three more iron ore blocks. The five blocks will be able to supply 20 % of the total demand, he added.

"The iron ore blocks are about 35 kilometres away from the plants which would reduce transport cost," Naval added.
