Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court A S Oka on Wednesday recused himself from hearing a petition seeking filling of judicial and administrative vacancies in the Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal (KSAT), which now functions in Bengaluru, Belagavi and Kalaburagi.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by K Sathish Bhat, who has stated that the post of chairman and one post of the judicial as well as the administrative member were occupied, but the remaining three posts of the judicial members as well as four posts of the administrative members were lying vacant.

The petitioner has further contended that there are more than 14,838 cases pending before the KSAT as on December 31, 2018 and the present strength is not adequate to attend to these large number of pending cases.
