KSRTC starts buses to Kodagu, Kerala

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) restored bus services to several parts of Kerala on Sunday while train services were cancelled as landslides forced closure of ralway sections between Ernakulam and Shoranur and Kottayam and other areas.

KSRTC said it will restore all its services to Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram except Kasargod on Sunday.

The first service left Bengaluru at 4 pm to Thiruvananthapuram. Almost 12 to 13 buses were scheduled to operate to Kerala on Sunday night.

The railways diverted the Kochuveli Express (16315) to Thiruvananthapuram via Madurai and Nagarcoil.

The Kanyakumari Express (16526) was diverted on the same route.

Yeshwanthpur-Kochuveli, Mangaluru-Karwar and Kannur-KSR Bengaluru Express trains commencing journey on Sunday were cancelled while the Ernakulam Express was terminated at Coimbatore.

The Railways would refund fares to thousands of passengers, who had reserved tickets on trains to Mangaluru and Kerala. Officials said full refund of the ticket would be made in cases where tickets were not cancelled by passengers but the railways.
