Siddharam Swamiji of Nagnur Rudrakshimath said, that Lingayat seers aren't dividing society.
Instead, they are trying to obtain an independent religion status for Lingayats because the faith is 'pure and non-Vedic'. "We want Lingayats to enjoy their constitutional rights," he added.
In a statement released here on Monday, Siddharam Swamiji said: "Our efforts to obtain separate religion tag, is being termed anti-religion by some who mislead people".
Seers should set aside their prestige and palanquins and participate in this pro-people movement. "Protecting one's religion and creating more respect for it is a seer's job. Let us be united for the cause of upliftment of the poor and participate in the movement," he urged.
The movement for independent religion status was not politically motivated. It was for commoners; against capitalists, and the ‘purohitshahi’, the seer pointed out.
