Padma Shri Darshan Shankar will hold a webinar in Bengaluru on February 20 to mark the birth anniversary of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

The webinar is being organised by His Highness Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar (HHSNW) Foundation on ‘The Indian Way to Study Nature and Society’.

Shankar, Vice Chancellor of Trans-Disciplinary University, Bengaluru, will speak on the unique Indian approaches to studying nature and society, a topic of anthropological interest to a wide audience.

The webinar will be streamed from the Gagana Malige Hall, Mysuru Palace, according to Reginald Wesley, Honorary Secretary, HHSNW Foundation. The webinar will be streamed on https://youtu.be/PtefrdSki8E.

The Trans-Disciplinary University primarily focuses on Ayurveda-biology, a new domain that combines systemic perspectives of Ayurveda with molecular approaches of biology.

The government awarded Shankar Padma Shri in 2011 recognising his work in promoting integrative health sciences. He won Normal Borlaug Award (1998) for his contribution towards conservation of wild populations of medicinal plants. He is also the recipient of Columbia University’s International Award (2003) as recognition for his contributions to revitalisation of traditional systems of healthcare in India.
