'Santro' Ravi subjected to inquiry, will be produced before judge: Mysuru police

Mysuru city police brought 51 year old K S Manjunath alias Santro Ravi to Mysuru on Saturday morning. He was arrested in Ahmedabad on Friday.

ADGP (law and order) Alok Kumar along with Mysuru city police commissioner Ramesh Banoth, held a preliminary inquiry at Vijayanagar police station.

"As you are aware we had secured him yesterday, we brought him last night and reached here early this morning.. We have got him examined medically, now procedures and basic inquiry is on," Bhanot said.

"Leaving the travelling time, we will have to produce him within 24 hours before the judge, after completing the formalities, we will produce," he added.

Speaking to media persons, ADGP Alok Kumar said that the priority is to inquire him on the case registered in Vijayanagar police station now. Later once he is given custody, he will be questioned about the previous 28 other cases, and also about his alleged connections with politicians and others.

He also informed that besides three people who are arrested for supporting him, they are also checking who else actively supported him. They will also be arrested.

He added that Santro Ravi is diabetic and takes insulin once an hour, so the police have arranged for the insulin injections for him.

Narasimha Raja sub division ACP M Shivashankar, Vijayanagar inspector Ravishankar B S interrogated him further. Later he was subjected to medical tests, and produced before a magistrate.

A team of 18 police men including Vijayanagar inspector Ravishankar B S, led by Mysuru city police commissioner Ramesh Banoth, DCPs Muththuraju M, Geetha M S, Narasimha Raja sub division ACP M Shivashankar, SPs Nikhil B from Raichur, Yathish N from Mandya, Santhosh Babu from Ramanagar have conducted the operation to nab him.

Police had begun investigation, after registering a case of rape and atrocity, followed by complaint by a woman against him in Vijayanagar police station on January 2. Vijayanagar police had booked case under column 3 of Dowry Prohibition Act 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), 3(1)(w)(I), 3(2)(5a) SC/ST (P.O.A) Amendment Ordinance 2014, column 506, 498(A),504, 376, 270, 313, and 323 of the IPC.
