After former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Food and Civil Supplies Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan too has written to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy asking him to restore supply of 7 kg of rice under the Anna Bhagya scheme.

Khan said that reduction in the quantity of rice to 5 kg had angered the beneficiaries. He has also urged Kumaraswamy to introduce nutritious supplements such as iodised salt, cooking oil and tur, under the Anna Bhagya scheme.

In the Legislative Assembly, Basavaraj Bommai (BJP, Shiggaon) said that there was a big responsibility on Khan to convince Kumaraswamy to supply 7 kg of rice under
Anna Bhagya.

Leader of the Opposition
B S Yeddyurappa charged that around one lakh quintal of rice and wheat was perishing in the godowns. “Either you come with me, or take me with you -- we will visit godowns across the state. More than one lakh quintal of rice and wheat is rotting away in the godowns. Who is responsible for not releasing these food grains?” the BJP leader said.

Khan said that he had received complaints in this regard. “I have decided to hold district-wise review meetings from July 15 in this regard,” he added.
