Tumkur Corporator hacked to death

The corporator, Anjanappa (34) alias Anjani was sitting in his car at a railway crossing about 7.45 am waiting to get across when he was attacked in Gokul Layout on Baddihalli Road.

The assailants smashed the window panes and as Anjanappa tried to escape, hacked him to death, Superintendent of Police S P Harsha said. The assailants are absconding. Anjanappa had over 10 cases registered against him, Harsha said.

The police suspected gang rivalry to be the motive behind the murder. This is said to be the third attempt on the life of Anjanappa. The earlier two attempts had reportedly failed.
