Tumkur MP wants KPCC chief to be made DyCM

Last Updated 01 June 2014, 19:56 IST

State Congress chief G Parameshwara, who is making all out efforts to join the Siddaramaiah Cabinet, got support from Tumkur MP Mudduhanume Gowda on Sunday.

Gowda said Parameshwara should be appointed the deputy chief minister as he played a pivotal role in bringing back the party to power in the State, after nine years of hibernation.

Gowda, who became the choice of Parameshwara for the Tumkur Lok Sabha seat, was earlier in the JD(S).

He managed to win the seat despite the Congress not performing well across the State.

Gowda said if Parameshwara had been made a minister before the elections, the party would have benefited from it. If need be, a delegation could be taken to Delhi to pressurize the party high command to make him the DyCM, he added.

He interacted with the media after offering condolences to the family members of A Krishnappa, who was the JD(S) State president and Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency candidate. Krishnappa died a couple of days after the polling.

Like Gowda, MLC and senior Congress leader M V Rajashekaran too had said that Parameshwara should be made a minister.

Parameshwara, who lost the Koratagere Assembly seat to the JD(S) in 2013, is keen on becoming MLC and later joining the Cabinet.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has never expressed his opinion.
