Despite poll code varsity goes ahead with recruitments

Violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the order of deputy commissioner, Vijayanagar Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari (VSKUB), has gone ahead with recruitment process fill up teaching posts in 23 departments.

The varsity has scheduled the recruitments between March 12 and 15.

Dr Ram Prasath Manohar V, Ballari district deputy commissioner, had ordered the varsity vice-chancellor Prof M S Subhas against conducting the recruitment process in the wake of MCC.

“We will file a criminal complaint if the varsity is found to have conducted recruitment process,” the DC told DH.

Prof B K Tulasimala, the registrar, VSKUB, confirmed that the varsity had received oral instructions from the DC.

The Vice Chancellor had maintained that the appointment orders wouldn’t be issued till MCC expired. He was not available for his version.

Complaint lodged

On Monday, Dr S V Prabhakar of Ballari had lodged a complaint with the election commission and district election officer seeking immediate withholding of the recruitment process.

The government had constituted a committee headed by Visvesaraya Technological University vice-chancellor to probe allegations that recruitment process conducted by VSKUB, Davanager University and Karnatak University were not transparent.

UGC guidelines

The government in its order on March 8 had directed the varsity to complete the recruitment based on University Grants Commission guidelines and recommendations of the committee. The government had also directed the varsity to videograph the entire process.

The VSKUB academic council former member Venkatesh alleged that the department of higher education had directed the VC against taking major decisions six month prior to his retirement.
