MLAs from the constituencies falling under the Western Ghats and other forest areas on Thursday poured out their woes to Forest Minister Aravind Limbavali at a meeting held here. The legislators blamed the forest officials for creating hurdles in the implementation of development projects in forest areas.
They also sought urgent intervention to end the man-animal conflict.
The meeting was called by Limbavali on the suggestion of Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri in the aftermath of a stormy session over man-animal conflict and crop loss caused by wild animals.
Sources told DH that Thirthahalli MLA Araga Jnanendra and Virajpet MLA K G Bopaiah were angry with the forest officials for “impeding road development works in forest areas” and over delay in the release of compensation for the crop loss.
Ministers S Angara (Sullia) and A Shivaram Hebbar (Yellapur), MLAs Appachu Ranjan (Madikeri), H K Kumaraswamy (Sakleshpur), V Sunil Kumar (Karkala), R V Deshpande (Haliyal) and N Mahesh (Kollegal) among others took part in the meeting.
