Dakshina Kannada (DK) Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that the decision to allow buses and other heavy traffic vehicles (HTV) into Shiradi Ghat, will be taken after discussing the matter with the Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri.
Safety measures required to be taken on the stretch in order to allow buses would be inspected before allowing HTV on Shiradi Ghat.
It may be recalled that, following multiple landslides on Shiradi Ghat due to heavy rains, traffic was banned in August second week.
It was only on September 6, that the district administrations of Hassan and Dakshina Kannada, ordered the opening of Shiradi Ghat stretch (of national highway-75) for light motor vehicles, including maxicabs and light commercial vehicles.
