A 32-year-old woman and her three children were killed after the ceiling of their house collapsed on them in the early hours of Saturday, at Ramajogihalli in Challakere taluk.
The deceased are: Nagarathna, her children Ashwini (5), Theerthavardhan (3) and Komal (2). Nagarathna’s husband Chandrashekar and niece Devika, who have sustained injuries, are said to be out of danger.
Woodworm infestation had damaged the ceiling logs laid to support Kadapa stone slabs of the 30-year-old house. The ceiling caved in killing the mother and three children on the spot, the police said.
