YSR's death mourned in State

The state council of ministers headed by Home Minister V S Acharya held a meeting at Vidhana Soudha and passed a resolution mourning Reddy’s death. The meeting also condoled the death of AP CM’s Special Secretary S Subrahmaniam, chief security officer A S C Wesley, pilot S K Bhatia and co-pilot M S Reddy, who were in the helicopter along with Reddy.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, who is on a week-long visit to China, has expressed shock over the death. In his condolence message, Yeddyurappa said the country had lost a visionary in his death. A team of ministers led by Acharya will represent the state at the funeral of YSR.

Governor H R Bharadwaj said Reddy had dedicated himself to public service and tirelessly worked for welfare of people in Andhra Pradesh. His death was a blow not only to Andhra Pradesh but for the entire country.

Former prime minister Deve Gowda said he was saddened and shocked by the untimely death of Reddy. His pro-poor and pro-farmer initiatives won him admiration from people of the state. The fact that he died on his way to a surprise check in a village amply reflects his concern for poor, Gowda said.

Union ministers Mallikarjun Kharge, S M Krishna, Karnataka ministers Karunakara Reddy, Janardhana Reddy, Sriramulu, KPCC president R V Deshpande, working president D K Shivakumar, BJP state president Sadananda Gowda and others have mourned the death.
